CULTER FLOWER SHOW 2003

THE SHOW went extremely well this year - the long hot summer produced spectacular displays of colourful flowers especially of the chrysanthemums and dahlias. Mr Jimmy Milne, one of our Honorary Presidents, presented the trophies to our winners and gave the auctioneer plenty of work at the end when we sold off the masses of blooms and vegetables.

Society Salver for Crafts Bill Loudon, Westhill

Community Council Trophy for Photography Jim Skinner, Culter

Culter PTA Trophy for Children Judith Roberts, Culter

Lavina Massie, chair of the Culter Community Council, talked about the Council’s Gardens Competition and presented trophies to the following:

Best-kept garden

Best-kept Pensioner’s Garden

Mr Jock Ewen,  Dalmaik Terrace

Best All Year Round Garden

Mr Bill Ledford,  Bucklerburn

Culter In Colour shields awarded for improving the appearance of Culter by use of tubs and containers were given to:

The residents of 19-24 Johnston Gardens West

The residents of 25-30 Johnston Gardens West

Editor: Congratulations to all the winners. Thanks also to the residents of Culter who helped to brighten the village with floral displays in so many gardens but who did not receive a prize. CCC has been asked to think about co ordinating plans for future years to ensure that the main Deeside Road through the village has more appeal. I agree, and it will be on the agenda for discussion - and hopefully we will see more baskets, troughs etc. filled with flowers. More news later.
