DEESIDE CHORISTERS

ON 23rd August, we sang Evensong at Pluscarden Abbey (near Elgin ) after sampling the Moray Leisure Centre’s swimming pool! We were made very welcome as usual and served with tasty refreshments afterwards.

In three days spent at Linlithgow from 5th September, we explored Captain Scott’s ship at Dundee , tried all the roller-coasters at Strathclyde Adventure Park , and visited Ocean World at Queensferry. Incredibly, we also fitted in four choir rehearsals and our own talent show (presented just for us) at the Low Port Centre. We than sang a full Evensong at the Church of the Holy Rude, Stirling , on our way home! Choir Camp is concentrated hut enormously enjoyable.

At the beginning of August, we circulated our recruiting leaflets round local schools, with the result that twenty-seven youngsters have expressed interest in the choir. The final number of children who will eventually join the Choristers will be smaller than this, but, at a time when few children show an interest in singing, it is a remarkable result. We still have one vacancy for a musical boy who enjoys good music and company - why not come and try it without any obligation to join?
