CAMPHILL SCHOOLS
THANK YOU to the many friends
who found your way down to our Open Day during the last
Aberdeen
holiday of the year. Despite the overcast beginning of the day, both Murtle and
Camphill were quite busy already at
2pm
and so it continued through out the afternoon with hundreds of people enjoying
themselves and participating in the various events that were offered.
New this year were the donkey
cart riding and the green wood’ lathe. The former activity proved to be
extremely popular, with the two donkeys working non stop the whole afternoon.
Plans are already afoot for the next one in a year’s time. Our thanks also go
to the Culter Junior Pipe Band that again provided a musical highlight.
As I write this, we have just
experienced one of the highest intakes for one term for a long time with us
admitting 9 new pupils, some locally but others from as far away as the
Isle of Man
and
Sheffield
.
It seems that despite the
current political thinking that all children should live at home and be educated
in their local school, there are an increasing number of children who don’t
fit’ and who need a more specialised setting, the kind of which we are happy
to provide. However it would be wonderful if parents did not need to fight with
local authorities, more or less from the birth of their child with special
needs, for an adequate service.
By the time you read this our
latest Annual Report will have been produced which will provide a colourful
insight into life at Camphill Should you wish to read it copies will be
available, hopefully, at the local libraries or from our office. Please contact
us and we will be pleased to send you a copy
