CALLING ALL SUPPORTERS OF SPORT IN
LOWER DEESIDE
LAND acquired by Culter Boys
Club to the south of the Culter Football Club pitch, could be the key to
providing a major boost for local sport on
Lower Deeside
.
A company called Castle Ltd,
with charitable status, has been formed to develop the land and an ambitious
project is now underway to transform the waste ground into first class playing
and changing facilities, not only for Culter Boys Club, but also for the benefit
of the whole Lower Deeside community.
A project development team is
now drawing up plans for a sports pavilion with changing rooms, a committee
room, kitchen facilities and a general purpose recreation room plus a full sized
grass playing area and an all-weather playing surface suitable for football,
hockey, tennis, cricket practice and other sports.
Before these plans are
finalised, the project team would like to hear the views of the whole
Lower Deeside
community on what facilities are needed most and a survey covering Culter,
Maryculter, Milltimber, Bieldside and Cults is planned.
There are still major funding
and planning challenges ahead before we can turn this dream into a reality.
Detailed surveys are needed before a planning application to develop the ground
can be submitted to the local council. A fund raising committee has been formed
to apply for grants to fund the initial surveys and if this phase is successful,
we will go forward with a full-scale fund raising exercise for the whole
project. Our short term objective is to have a grassed area ready for use by the
end of 2003.
If you would like to help with
any aspect of the planning or fund raising for this project, please contact
