CULTER PLAYGROUP

ALL our children enjoyed the run-up to Christmas, complete with parties and Nativity plays. Their cherubic renditions of 'Away in a Manger' and 'Little Donkey' sung in angelic voices would bring tears to a glass eye.

The new term is into full swing. The children are enjoying the usual fun, stories, painting, games, crafts and songs. Thanks must go again to our creative and ever-cheerful team of Play leaders - Sheena, Sheila and Jane - who consistently deliver a high standard of care and activities for the youngest members of the community.

Unfortunately our Playgroup is in dire straits financially and we need to ask our 'Brothers-in-Arms' (i.e. YOU, our friends in Culter) for help to enable us to get back on an even keel. Our well-established group is under threat of closure if our outgoings keep exceeding our income.

Currently we are undertaking a campaign to raise the £10,000 target needed to keep us afloat. Several fundraising events are planned for the coming months, including the ever-popular 'Ladies Night'. We shall

be holding a 'Nearly New Sale' of children's clothing, toys, and baby equipment etc. on Saturday 8 March. Please have a 'rake' in your cupboards and attics for quality items you no longer use. (Each contributor will receive a percentage of money raised.)

Watch out for envelopes dropping through your doors son asking for small monetary donations. Any novel suggestions for fundraising activities would be appreciated very much. Contact telephone numbers for more details: Susan Galashan (73XXXX) or Julie Thain (73XXXX)
