BRITISH HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONGRAEME WIGHT Jnr retained the 2001 Tran-X British Hillclimb Championship in September 2001after quite an eventful year. The defence of his title started in April and, after a rainy time meant cancellations of several races in May, Graeme had some high spots in June - mainly two special presentations! He had a long talk with Sir Stirling Moss who then presented him with a cheque for £1,000 for the first ever sub-25 second climb at Shelsey Walsh, a famous Worcestershire hill. June was also the month in which Graeme's wife, Sally, presented him with twins. A few days after the twins' arrival, Graeme was given a rare invitation to the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed where he did hillclimbing proud by leading the times until a late effort by another Scot, Alan McNish. Congratulations, Graeme, on your success. Long may it continue. (It is noted that Graeme Wight Senior has been the most consistent other Scot in the Trans-X series, and has hopes of matching his 2001 tally when he won a Top Ten number.}
