HERITAGE TRUST

AT the instigation of the Trust, a useful meeting was held in December with representatives of Aberdeen City Council (ACC) along with Cllr Pam Macdonald, Lavina Massie, Chairperson of Culter Community Council, and Rev John Ferguson to discuss the effects of flooding into the Heritage Centre and the condition of the car park adjacent to the Centre and Hall.

During the last three months of 2002, the condition of the car park deteriorated considerably and it was not helped by the vast amount of water coming down Station Road East . While ACC did not give a firm commitment to remaking the car park area, there was an appreciation of the problem and that every effort needed to be made to upgrade this important community facility.

The Trust has been busy over recent months upgrading the Heritage Hall and is currently having plans drawn up to create adequate toilet facilities and disabled access. The Hall is well suited to a wide range of activities and community groups/organisation or individuals would be made most welcome. If you require more information contact John Troup -Tel 732701.

Remember we do have car parking facilities!

Also, from February onwards, Teas and Coffees will be available in the Hall on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We look forward to seeing you.

We at St Peter's Heritage Centre had no fewer than three events in nine weeks. Many thanks to all who gave their time and support to us, especially our committee members - Lorrie, Mary, Violet, Helen, Sheila, John Troup and John Mearns, Wayne Bilsborrow, Tim Ramseyer, John Kelman and Bill Simpson.

23 November (Silent Auction) - £592 14 December (Christmas Fayre) -£675. At this event, Susan Simpson had her Praise Band and their playing was well received.

18 January (Kathleen Robertson with her Traditional Music and Song) - £464.

We have opened up the stage in the Hall and this enhances it very much.

If you ever worked at Culter Paper Mill, you may remember the Fire Pump. lan McGregor (I don't know where he comes from) bought it and did a recondition job on it at a place in Devon . Now, in our Hall, you can see a photograph of it, hoisted up to his 11th storey office in Canada !
