CULTER BOYS CLUB

SINCE the formation of Culter Boys Club in 1983, we have had to rely on the use of the Aberdeen Council's municipal pitches to play our football. After many years of searching for land of our own, Culter Boys Club has finally acquired some land on which to build our own pitches and changing facilities.

Thanks go to Hamish Barrack of Chess Group Plc for granting a 99 year lease on the land just South of Culter Football Club's Crombie Park . To support the project, Culter Boys Club have set up a company (Castle Ltd) which will handle the new facility.

An ambitious project is now underway to transform the waste ground into first class playing and changing facilities, not only for Culter Boys Club, but also for the benefit of the whole community.

A project development team has been put in place, which is now actively getting the project off the ground. Plans are being drawn up to construct a sports pavilion to include changing rooms, a club committee room, kitchen facilities and general purpose sports & recreation rooms. Lottery grant applications are being prepared, fund raising is being organised and land preparation including environmental and ecological studies are being undertaken.

The first visible sign of the project taking shape will be when the land is cleared of weeds and debris to allow the surveys to take place. This will happen over the next few months and, all being well, the first seeds of the new playing surfaces will be sown next Spring.

Exciting times indeed for Culter Boys Club but also a lot of hard work ahead.
