PETERCULTER PARISH CHURCH

www.culterkirk.co.uk

A growing number of people have been coming along to our new Thursday morning coffee time, which takes place from l0am-l2noon, with the Saturday morning coffees also still proving popular. It's been encouraging to see a wide age range of people coming along, from mums with children at the playgroup to older people. A short act of worship, open to all, is now taking place every Thursday at l2noon. This is a reminder that worship does not only need to take place on Sundays!

On Friday November 30th (5t Andrew's Day) we will be holding a "Scots Night" with the singer Alistair MacDonald as the main guest, along with other performers. The event should appeal to people of all ages. It is hoped that this will be the first of many concerts and other such events in our refurbished church.Tickets for the concert are available now from the church office.

The annual church Christmas Fayre will take place on Saturday 8 December from 2pm-4pm. As with last year, there will be a wide range of stalls including Bric-a-Brac, home baking, flowers/plants, books and so on. If you wish to donate to the event, please contact the church office. Tickets are now available, also from the church office or any church elder.

On Monday 10 December, we will be holding an outdoor Carol Service (weather permitting) at 6.3Opm in the church car park. There will be a brass band and tea/coffee and mince pies to follow in the hall. Should the weather be poor, the event will take place indoors. Our Christmas Family Service on December 23rd will include a Nativity Play, and the popular Christmas Eve Candlelit Service will take place on 24 December at 7pm. We will be holding a Watchnight Service at 11.15pm and a Christmas Day Family Service at 10.30am. Everyone in the village is warmly invited to all of these services.

I can give you advance notice now of the holding of an Alpha course next year, which will be open to those with a Christian commitment and also anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith who does not have any church connection. The popular course has been highly successful all over the UK and has attracted people from all walks of life. It will run over a ten-week period and each evening will begin with an informal meal, followed by worship, a talk and a time of discussion. If you would like to find out more, then an information evening will be held on 10 January 2002 at 7pm at the church.

Finally, our new web site is now up and running and the address is www.culterkirk.co.uk where you will find full details about all our activities.

John Ferguson.
