CULTER BOYS CLUBTHE new football season is well under way now and Culter Boys Club once again is represented by teams from under 7's right up to the under 18's. It's too early to say what the season ahead will hold but we hope at least one team will be able to emulate the success of the under 14's who recorded our first title win in the Aberdeen and District Juvenile League for four years last season. You can check results, league standings and even match reports for some games on our website at - www.culterboysclub.btintemet.co.uk. Everyone at the club is wishing a speedy and successful recovery to Shaun Shawl the under 12's manager who badly injured both ankles in September as a result of a fall at work. Both ankles are still in plaster and it will be some time before Shaun is up on his feet again. The club has made progress in establishing informal links with the Highland League club Keith FC. During the summer, Cu1ter Boys Club were guests of Highland League outfit Keith FC for their pre-season friendly against last seasons treble winning Celtic FC. A bus load of players, supporters, managers and parents made the journey to watch a mixed team from Culter FC Under 11 's & 12's take on their Keith FC counterparts. This was the curtain-raiser before the main game between Keith and Celtic but unfortunately the Highland lads proved too strong, running out 4-0 winners. However, joint managers for the night Shaun Shaw and Mike Aitken must have had a word in the ear of Celtic manager Danny McGrain as Celtic exacted some revenge on our behalf by beating Keith by a similar 4-0 margin. The Culter BC Under l0s were also in attendance by being ball boys for the night and an added interest for one of our Under 10 ball boys, Daniel Park, was watching his dad Graeme strut his stuff for Keith. The hospitality supplied by Keith was excellent with the boys being plied with juice and crisps after their game and the adult members of the Culter party sampling some Highland hospitality in the Keith boardroom. A thoroughly good time was had by all and thanks go to Ronnie Grant, our Under 7 co-manager and Keith FC Vice-Chairman for organising the evening and to chairman Sandy Stables and his committee at Keith for making us so welcome. Rick GrantEditor: I apologise for omitting the last report from Culter Boys Club which should have appeared in the August Courier. (A senior moment on my part ? ) |
