THE 58th Aberdeen Scout Group has had another successful year, rounded
off with our family BBQ at Templars' Park at the end of June. We have 70
boys on our books, covering the age ranges of 6-8 years in Beavers, 8-10
1/2 years in Cubs and 10 1/2 -14 years in Scouts. At 14+ the Scouts join
the Deeside Explorers which is based at Cults.
A
full programme of activities has been followed by all sections.
-
The Beavers have
enjoyed :heir wellv walks, games and crafts.
-
The Cubs have experienced sailing, visited the police
station in Bucksburn, and done manv -varied activities to earn
badges.
-
The Scouts have been rafting on the River Dee (in
rafts they constructed themselves) and now are looking forward to
summer camp in Glen Lochay, near Killin.
-
The Explorers have been following the Duke of
Edinburgh's scheme which is now closely aligned with the Queen's
Scout Award at the gold level.
We have active leaders who run the sections and an executive committee
who administer the group and manage fund raising. We are now moving to a
system where parents of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are expected to help in
running the group, either as leaders, as helpers or an our committee.
This is starting to be implemented but we need more parents to start to
help in these roles in order to ensure successful continuation of the
Group into the future. With your assistance, we can continue to help our
young people develop, and achieve their full potential, so that they may
play a full part in our community for the benefit of all.
