WELL it's been a relatively good
summer so far. The weather has been above its usual standard and despite
Alasdair's protestations, the mighty Dons are looking good for a
European spot this year. More games for Alasdair to Police next year.
The main points this month are
related to traffic issues. Alasdair mentioned last month the issue of
riding motorbikes on land where you don't have permission and the
penalties attached. In the past, people have used the old tip which is
located down beside Culter FC football pitch, believing that they had
permission. We have confirmed with the owner of this land that no one
has permission to ride their motorcycles on this land. So far, we have
passed this information around the locals who should all now be aware
that this land is not to be used. Continuing to use this land will mean
that you could end up with your motorcycle being confiscated and it
costing over £100 to get it back.
Unfortunately, there isn't an area
within Aberdeen where you are allowed to ride the motorcycles as there
are various health and safety issues involved.
Another issue regarding traffic
problems relates to persons parking on the white zig-zag lines at
pedestrian crossings. For those of you not aware, this is an offence
which could result in a £60 fine and three penalty points on your
licence. The zig-zag lines are there to stop vehicles blocking the view
of the crossing, making it safer all round. You have all been warned.
Finally, there have been several
instances of inconsiderate parking as well. All drivers should know not
to park in front of someone's driveway. This could lead to someone being
charged with obstruction so be considerate when parking your car.
In the last few months there have
been a number of incidents all over the city involving the theft of
motorcycles from garages etc. If you do own a motorcycle, try and make
it as secure as possible. Look at the type of lock you have on your
garage and on your bike. It may just cost you a few extra pounds to make
your bike safe. If you do see anyone suspicious hanging about then
contact the Police so we can check it out.
Enjoy the rest of the summer.
