New Manager

Following the decision taken by long term Stewardess, Linda Massie, to resign to look after her grandchild, the Club has appointed Harry Petrie as Manager. We wish Linda and her family all the best for the future. Harry brings a wealth of experience to the newly created position having worked in a variety of social clubs over the years. His skills and charms are already beginning to be appreciated by the members. Harry will continue to seek improvements to the benefit of the members as he gets to grips with the position.

AGM Outcome

In an uncontroversial AGM several longstanding council members decided to call it a day. John Merchant, June Lumsden, Jim McBeath, John Brown and Andy Findlay have all contributed to the financial viability of the Club and are thanked for their long service. Some of the above will continue to be active members and their help will be appreciated. The new appointees to the council are Heather Smith, Robbie Duncan and Garry Wood and we are sure they will be valuable assets. Sadly' just before the AGM, council member Lennox "Lenny" Laing passed away following a short illness and our thoughts are with his family.

Summer Hours

With the bowling season in full swing we have decided to open all day every day during the summer to provide  a service to the bowlers. Of course these enhanced opening hours can be enjoyed by any of the membership or guests. Opening times for this experimental period are:

  • Mondav - Friday 11 am - 11 pm

  • Saturdav - 11am - 12 midnight

  • Sunday 12:30pm - 11pm

Should the trial prove to be successful then the extended hours will be utilised all year round.

Old Club

Much progress has been made to replace the bowling pavilion and old club with several draft plans being looked at and discounted by the Project Team. At the AGM, the membership gave the team sanction to take the project further ahead. The latest draft of the plan would mean relocating all the facilities to the main building including provision of a viewing gallery, kitchen, office, changing facilities and snooker room. Estimated costs vary but are substantial and would possibly only go ahead subject to divestment of some assets and planning permission.
