FOLLOWING our highly successful
Flower Festival three years ago, we are happy to announce a follow-up.
The theme will be "Heroes of the Old Testament". It is to be held in the
church from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th September. Opening times will
probably be 10am-8pm Friday to Saturday and 2-5pm on Sunday. Final
details will be available nearer the time. Refreshments will be
available in the hall where there will be a display of regular
activities, which take place in the church halls.
Saturday coffees begin again on
Saturday September 9th, when we will have tea, coffee and home baking
available every week. Thursday coffees continue as well, with a short
act of worship taking place at 11.30am.
A series of adult Christian
Education meetings will be held over the next few months. These meetings
are NOT just for church members, but for anyone who is interested in
finding out more about religion, those with questions about the faith
and those simply intrigued by religious belief today.
Each evening begins at 7.30pm with a
presentation in the church, followed by discussion time in the small
hall. The evening will end at 9pm. Please note that the dates may be
altered. No prior knowledge of the topics is required

religion today - but how much do we really know about fundamentalism in
world religions?
COURSE 2

prophets were some of the most extraordinary characters in the Old
Testament. What were they all about? -
And what doe the last book in the
New Testament say to us today? Does it really tell us when the world
will end?

CHALLENGE'S
TO THE FAITH
An exploration of people and
movements which challenged Christian beliefs and how the Church
responded
COURSE 4
MODERN
CHRISTIAN WRITERS AND THINKERS
An exploration of radical, inspiring
writers, looking at their lives and their writings
COURSE 5
PLACES OF PILGRIMAGE
People travelled to holy and special
places since the early years of the Christian Church. This course
explores the background to some of these well known places of
pilgrimage.
COURSE 6 CHRISTIANITY AND ART
Christianity and art has had a close
relationship for centuries and some of the greatest works of art in the
world are of a religious nature, This course explores what some great
works say to us about the Christian faith and also looks at some of the
outstanding works of stained glass in church buildings.
There will so be a short course for
those who are interested in becoming church members.
The details are as follows:
-
Wednesday September 20th: Faith-who
-
Wednesday September 27th: Jesus
Christ - can man, just a clever teacher or son of God?

God?

be able to support it.
