THERE has been a busy end to the
school year with many exciting events towards the end of the term:
-
We
celebrated a wedding;
-
there
was the Graduation of Class 12;
-
an
extraordinary performance of Fiddler on the Roof, (one of the pupils
leaving now has been with us for 14 years!),
-
the
excellent production of Oliver Twist by Class 8;
-
the construction of a pizza
earth oven by Class 7 (it cooks a delicious pizza in less than 2
minutes) and
-
the
St John's Celebration and picnic. Earlier we enjoyed wonderful camps
and other activities during a sunny, warm half term, a midsummer
ceilidh with all the NE Scottish Camphill Communities as well as
concerts and visiting artists.
The end
of the school year also means that it's time to say goodbye to a number
of colleagues. Congratulations to the large number of co-workers who
graduated with a BA in Curative Education and our good wishes to those
who will move on and take this impulse further into the world.
Our thanks go to the many Foundation
Year co-workers who come from all over the world far a year to live and
work with us and who form the bedrock of our `work force'. Without this
group of willing, generally young people our task would be immeasurably
more difficult.
The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road
remains a constant threat with the most recent suggestions being that
AWPR is now likely to pass to the east of the existing Milltimber Brae
road in the vicinity of Camphill Estate.
The new St Andrew's (to be known as
Cherry Wood) is just about finished and should be ready for occupancy
during the October holidays. The candle workshop is moving to the Club
room in Camphill leaving more space in the basement Rose for Play
Therapy.
