ON behalf of CDCA I would like to thank committee members Jan Murphy and Dawn MacKinnon for organising this year's Hogmanay party held at the Village Hall. It was a great success and raised £673 for Hall funds. We have decided to hold another one next year. Please look out in the October edition of the Courier for details. DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU OWN THE VILLAGE HALL? IT IS NOT A COUNCIL-RUN COMMUNITY CENTRE. The annual AGM of the village hall will be held on Monday 13th March at 7.3Qpm in the main hall. This meeting is open to all residents of Peterculter and we urge you to attend, especially if you are a representative of one of the groups which uses the Hall: Each and every one of us Culter residents has a stake in what happens to this excellent facility. Please attend the meeting and have your say. Everyone is welcome. Thanks to donations from Culter Community Council, Shell, Culter Theatre Club and students from Cults Academy we have been able to carry outsome much needed refurbishment to the ladies toilets, the kitchen and the main entrance area. • The ladies loos are looking beautiful in blue, with new flooring, sinks, splash backs and the walls have had a new coat of paint. • There is new lighting in the kitchen and the ceiling has been sealed and repainted. • There is a new coir mat in the main entrance area. Our thanks to all those who gave us donations, and special thanks to Jim Skinner who put in all the hard graft needed to make the place look so good. On Friday 24th February there will be a Ladies Pampering evening at the Hall. Look out for the posters giving more information. All Hall activities are now back to normal after the Christmas break, but don't forget, if you want to book the hall for your function, please call Alison on 734371. We offer very competitive hourly rates for community based activities, as we only aim to cover our running costs. We also have had weddings, ceilidhs, birthday parties, sales of work, roller discos and many other functions. Susan Chappell-Smith President. |
