St Peter's Heritage Trust

THE Trust is looking forward to 2006 and to the many people coming to visit the Heritage Centre. We are open every Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday from 24p.m - there is plenty to see. It is surprising to the committee that there are still people in Culter who are not aware of the Heritage Centre - perhaps we need to publicise ourselves better!

Recent events at the Hall have been-

• Christmas Music and Mulled Wine which was attended by about 90 people - thanks to our resident music group "Scotch Broth" for providing the music; • On 20th January a superb slide presentation was given by Andy Hall, the well known photographer, who showed slides of favourite places in Scotland chosen by Scottish personalities. It was encouraging that almost 80 people attended

It was hoped to re-start our popular afternoons teas in February but due to a shortage of volunteers, the afternoon teas will not start until Saturday 4th March. It is hoped that these will run every Saturday & Sunday (2-4p.m.) right through to December. However we urgently require more volunteers. If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Violet Smith - Tel 01224 733317. If you could supply some baking this would be a great help.

The Heritage Hall has been in situation for almost 100 years and while much work has been done to the inside (new toilets and kitchen), there is an urgent need to renew the roof which is deteriorating. Approaches are being made to find out if grants would be available as the roof replacement will be extremely costly. It is important that this building is preserved as it is one of the few remaining "iron kirkies" in Scotland and the only one in Aberdeen. Through the Courier, every attempt will be made to keep the community informed of developments

Our other fund raising initiative this year will be the provision of new chairs for the Hall. A number of the existing chairs are now showing signs of age so hopefully the moneys raised from afternoon teas will help in the purchase of replacement chairs.

On Friday 10th March, members of the Scottish Traditional Music Group will be staging a concert in the Hall arranged by Kathleen Robertson - this is sure to be an excellent evening and no doubt tickets will go fast! See local posters for more information nearer the time.

Finally, the Heritage Hall is available for letting and if you are interested, contact
