Sounds Familiar?

Twenty years ago (From the Courier No 37 dated February 1986)

CCCNotes: (Trevor Field):....... asking if any young person (ideally a teenager) would like to be co-opted to the Council,

either to represent a group or as an individual. The rest of us may not be teenagers, exactly, but we're surprisingly pleasant - and very keen to keep in touch with what that very important age-group thinks. Remember - the younger you are, the more time you may be spending in Culter!

District Council Notes: (John Ewen): Bridges over the Don and over the Dee are being considered by the District & Regional Councils. Those proposed offer us in Culter much more than most of us think.

Are they needed, at such cost - or would the answer be major improvements to roads and streets, such as making King Street a Clearway and adding roundabouts, or improving roads to and from the airport?

Football: (Albert J Moir Jnr) 900th Newsletter - My weekly Bulletin reached another milestone with the publication of the 900th issue on November 1985.

Advertisers please note: (Bill Booth): The Courier's costs are continuously increasing, and there has been no review of advertising rates for at least two years. It is, therefore, with regret that we announce increases in advertising rates, taking effect as of now: Standard advert (smallest size) - for one issue - £15*

* Editor: Cost of smallest advertisement in 2006 -for one issue - £I S! A few years ago, the price did rise to £20 but this was lowered when many more businesses wished to advertise with the Courier. CCC's aim is to give information to readers about the events/groups in the village and to cover the costs of printing, postage etc. (However, my payment has gone up to £200 per hour so perhaps an increase is in the air! You shouldn't believe everything you read........)

PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE COURIER

WE are always happy to accept the photographs which occasionally accompany articles, and, although some have proved more difficult than others to reproduce, have done our best to incorporate them with the text.

These days, with the proliferation of fully automatic digital cameras, more people than ever have one tucked away in a pocket, handbag, or rucksack - to be whipped out when the opportunity presents itself, making a suitable addition to any article being submitted.

Your camera will store an EXIF file with the image; this is information about the camera, lens, f/stop, flash, etc., which is useful if any problems arise - DON'T DELETE IT! If you are saving the photo on a CD Rom or sending it in by E-mail,

this file is included automatically - unless you turn this option off!

Although we have tried to use scans from inkjet printouts in the past, some have come out better than others, so a lot depends on the paper or card being used. (Avoid photocopier paper if possible) If we can get a copy of the original image file it makes life much easier.

We know that some people may not be clued up enough on digital matters, however MOST folk have a grandson or nephew who knows all about this sort of thing - speak to them first!
