WITH the 2006 season fast approaching, Cults Cricket Club enters a new era in its 113 year history. The 2005 season was a watershed for the club with no major trophies captured by either the lst or 2nd XIs for the first time since 1986. However it's not all doom and gloom. With the recent England versus Australia Ashes being of such high profile, this has led to a dramatic rise in the number of youngsters taking up the game. Cults CC hopes to field an under 17 junior team this season in the junior league and for the younger kids Kwik Cricket sessions will be held at Allan Park, Cults, on Friday evenings throughout the summer. The U-17 juniors start indoor practice this Sunday at Sheddocksley Sports Centre 4pm until 6pm. If any youngsters wish to join them in the following weeks they will be more than welcome. New blood is also needed for both the lst and 2nd XI sides as last season was a struggle to put two teams out on a Saturday. Thanks must go to our sponsors last year, Aberdein Considine, whose generous sponsorship has allowed Cults to purchase new equipment and make improvements to the changing facilities. We are always on the look-out for new players so if you, or anyone you know, would like to come and join us for a practice I can be contacted on the following: Home Tel: 01467 633322 Work Tel: 01224 282259 Email: gillandersg@camerondiv.com |
