Peterculter Parish Church

WORK has now finished on our new kitchen and everyone is delighted with the result. It looks as though it is going to come in on - or even below - budget and generous members contributed nearly £18,000 to the costs. The kitchen now meets the required standards to allow us to undertake coffees and teas on a weekly basis, as well as lunches once a month. Coffees and teas take place every Thursday and Saturday from l0a.m.-12 noon, with a short act of worship on Thursdays at 11.30a.m. Our lunches at present are taking place on the first Wednesday of every month and so the next one will be on Wednesday March lst from 12.30p.m. with a two course lunch for just £3.

The new kitchen completes the refurbishment of our premises and we continue to offer these excellent facilities for hire by the community, local groups, for birthday parties etc. If you wish to hire the hall, please phone 735845.

Carpet Bowls has started up again and takes place every Friday, either in the afternoon from 2pm to 4pm or in the evenings from 7pm to 9pm. All are welcome; the cost is just £1.

A new adult Christian education course began on February 9th and will continue to meet for the next three Thursdays, to which all are welcome. The course is a short history of the Church of Scotland.

We have a new church recipe book now available, with recipes contributed by church members. It costs just £5 and is available from the church office.

At Easter, we will be holding a Family Service on Palm Sunday, which this year will be on April 9th. Holy Week services take place from Monday 10th - Friday 14th in Cults Parish Church at 7p.m. We will have a short outdoor service in the field beside the Heritage Centre on Easter morning, April 16th, at 9.15a.m. This will be followed by egg rolling for children and breakfast in the Heritage Hall. Our Easter Day service of celebration takes place in the church at 10.30a.m.

Sadly, our Christmas tree lights were destroyed early in the New Year, with bulbs smashed and cables cut. The lights had been purchased through a donation from Culter Community Council. It is sad that a small minority choose to vandalise property in this way and deny others pleasure.

Full details about all our activities are on our web site at www.culterkirk.co.uk
