CULTER School is soon to be undertaking a new adventure in the form of a Book Week. The main aim is tc promote language and reading in z number of fun and exciting ways. There will be a couple of events in the run up to this, beginning with the Scholastic Book Fair, then going to Readathon, and coming together in a full week that encompasses World Book Day. Book Week will be an action packed week where children may be involved in activities such a; Storytelling, Author visits, Book-binding workshops and drama activities to name but a few.
The school is holding its annual Scholastic Book Fair and as usual parent; and children will be given the chance to browse and buy books. This year the Book Fair will be open for browsing on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd February with Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th February being the purchasing days. Book Week is going to begin on Monday, 27th February and will get underway with a Second Hand Book Sale on the Monday. Children will be able to exchange books they no longer use for different books at the same time as helping to raise money for the school. Books will be priced at £1 or less. What another great chance to stock up on books for the Readathon! We would be grateful for any suitable books, both fiction and non-fiction, which are in good condition to be donated the school. These should be delivered to the school on Friday 24th February in order that we can set up the sale. As a 'Grand Finale' to Book Week we will be holding a Fancy Dress Friday where children will be invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. There will be a prize for each class, yes; you've guessed it, a book token!
S Begley and A Murray, Class Teachers p. s. Please collect tokens from the top of Nestle Cereal packets and hand in to school. These can be exchanged for Dorling Kindersley books to help replenish our Library. Thank you. |
