Police Report

IT IS coming into the winter months, and with the dark mornings and dark evenings (when is it not dark??? hahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!) this is the time when house breakings are most prevalent. The local community has been vigilant with house breakings remaining at a low level but I would like to take this opportunity to re-enforce to people how important home security is.

It may sound like common sense but please remember to lock all doors and windows when leaving your property, set your alarm, if you have one, and leave a light on even if your property is empty. House breakers are looking for an easy target so please make sure you make it as hard as possible for them.

From previous Culter Community Council meetings, it is apparent that local residents are still unhappy with the amount, size of vehicles and the speed they are travelling at on Malcolm Road. With this in mind, Grampian Police had a successful operation at this location with several drivers being reported for speeding. Just to remind people, Malcolm Road has a 30 mph speed limit so let's stick to it.

Over the last three months I am also pleased to report that youth annoyance calls and vandalism have remained at a low level. This is partly due to the fact that Police are continuing to build good relationships with the local youths who, in the vast majority, are law abiding, pleasant and easy to deal with. At the same time I would urge parents, from a safety point of view as much as anything, to be aware where their children are hanging around and to make sure they are not causing a problem on someone else's doorstep. It is crucial in our multi agency approach that it is not just a Police issue once children and youths leave their home addresses.

Working for the Police in Culter is a very positive experience; the main perk of our job is meeting residents young and old. Let's keep working together to keep it that way.
