HOPEFULLY by now work has begun on
our kitchen refurbishment. This means that some of our facilities are
out of action until approximately the end of October although our halls
will still be in use. Unfortunately, we will be suspending our regular
coffee mornings during the work. This major project is a much-needed
improvement to our facilities and will see
•
the walls of the present kitchen area completely stripped back and
rebuilt,
•
the roof replaced,
• new windows installed and
• much needed modern equipment built
in.
The whole area will be entirely
transformed and this will complete the refurbishment of our premises,
which began in 2001 when the church hall and toilets were all upgraded.
Naturally, we will have to fund raise
to cover a substantial proportion of refurbishment costs and we are
holding a Gift Weekend to support the community church on 17th and 18th
September to help with this effort. Keep a look out in the local press
for news of the opening celebrations.
In June our choir took part in a
sponsored sing to raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust. This event
was a great success. Many thanks to generous Culter folk and their
friends who raised £1,449.50 for this very important charity.
In September we are starting a series
of Adult Christian Education courses which will be held during the
2005/6 session. These are short courses, run for one evening a week over
a four week period and are open to everyone. Each evening follows a
similar format. A talk is followed by a cup of tea or coffee and an
informal and stimulating discussion. The first of these courses begins
on lst September at 7.30 pm and is an "Introduction to Other World
Religions" which will look at Judaism, Buddhism, Islam and other faiths.
Please contact the minister Rev John Ferguson on 01224 735041 if you
would like more information.
The MacMillan Coffee Morning, which
is usually held in the church premises, will take place this year in the
Heritage Hall on Friday 30th September - thanks to the warm hospitality
of the Heritage Committee. Please do support this worthwhile event which
will take place between l0am and 12 noon on Friday 30th September.
Our regular worship in Peterculter
Parish Church continues every Sunday morning at 10.30am and all are very
welcome to join us.
