Home Up

Eastleigh Care Centre

WHAT a busy time we've had at Eastleigh. Most of you will have noticed the changes in the appearance of the grounds and the public should now be aware of our location. A number of people know there is a home in Culter but are uncertain as to where it is. Well, now you should all know. We are all delighted with the result. In addition to making ourselves more visible, signs warning road users that elderly people may be out walking, crossing the road, etc., are to be erected. These are pieces of road furniture which should have been in place a long time ago. Some motorists, in particular, do not consider pedestrians whatever their age.

Last month we held our Family Quiz, which was great fun. The evening is very popular and the crowd was larger than ever. Once again we were joined by ten Primary 7 pupils from Culter School. They all acquitted themselves well and were a great credit to their parents and to their school.

In August the residents were treated to a visit from Zoolab U.K. Louise Brown brought along a selection of exotic small animals. All residents had the chance to touch, hold or look at the animals. They enjoyed this experience - one often reserved for small children only.

During early Autumn we've enjoyed some great bus outings to the seaside and countryside. Our residents have had the opportunity to admire the beautiful scenery. I'd like to thank our volunteer helper at Eastleigh, Mrs Joy Stephen, whose dedication and commitment is worth its weight in gold. Are there others out there who would like to volunteer? If so, call in to see me at the home.

Soon we will be holding our Silent Auction which is another popular event. After that it will be time to prepare for Christmas. We have much planned and the money raised for the Residents' Fund will be put to good use during the Festive Season to ensure our residents have a great time.

To all our supporters I say a big thank you and I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy New Year.
