Cults Cricket Club

SEASON 2005 has been consigned to the annuls of history and is a fast fading memory. This is the first season since 1986 that a Senior XI has not won a trophy. Reason? Many. The most obvious is the lack of player commitment. I had to make a comeback at the start of August when 19 (Nineteen) players were unavailable. Captains Bryan Alexander and Phil Gill heard excuses that they never thought possible. Shame on the players. This is not good enough.

Kintore and Bon-Accord shared the Grade 1 trophies with great consistency. A trait that used to be attributed to Cults. Congratulations to both clubs, but be warned - Cults will be back. The trophies are only out on loan.

At this time of the year individual trophies are awarded:

lst XI Batting - Graeme Gillanders lst XI Bowling - G Arun

2nd XI Batting - Eddie Spearman 2nd XI Bowling - Bushan

Fielder of the Year - Stan Richards Donald Yeats Cup - Amol Saxena Kenny Murray Cup - G Arun Junior - Ally Gill

The 1 st XI and 2nd XI Players of the Year still have to be decided. After this season, does anyone deserve to win these? Congratulations to one and all.

Cults CC is now in hibernation. Bill Davidson continues to attend the square. My thanks to our friends and to our friends at Aberdeen City Council for the remedial work on the square.

The tremendous win by England over Australia in the Ashes has re-kindled interest in cricket. If you wish to participate please make contact with the addresses below. All ages and abilities are catered for. Enthusiasm essential.
