CAMPHILL SCHOOLS NEWS

BY THE time you read this, Judy Sweet the House Co-ordinator of Camphill House will be well on her way with Pedro the donkey walking though Scotland...

A little while ago Judy had become involved with the donkey care work that had been ongoing with the pupils for some years. Some of you might have met her as she began to take pupils on donkey rides along the disused old railway line, travelling a couple of miles to the local shop to bring back provisions for her hungry household of ten children and young people with special needs and their co-workers.

On April 26th Judy began her 700 mile trek across and around the north western part of Scotland. Her journey will take her west to Glen Affric across to Skye and north to Lochinver before returning home in the middle of August.

You can follow her journey by logging onto www.camphillschools.org.uk She will be raising the public profile of Camphill as she goes, helping people become aware of the unique provision that Camphill Communities provide world wide.

Although begun by Austrian refugees in1940, the impulse found its first home in Aberdeen, at Camphill House in Culter, and is therefore truly Scottish by nature. It is a fine example

of Scotland giving a home to an impulse, which in its own manner has changed the way many people think about people with special needs.
