Culter made an
impressive start in the Junior FA and gaining promotion at the end of
their first season 1987/88 as runners-up in Division One. Culter also won
the Archibald Cup that debut season. In 1988/89 Culter won the McLeman Cup
and in their most successful season, 1989/90 won three cups- the North
Regional Cup, Aberdeen Cable TV League Cup and the Archibald Cup. In
1992/93 Culter had another good season, winning the Aberdeen Cable TV Cup
and the McLeman Cup. Culter made a bad start to the Season in 1999/2000
and the appointment of new Team Manager Bobby Gray came too late to save
them from relegation but the season ended on a high note when underdogs
Culter beat Formartine United to win the prestigious North Regional Cup.
Culter were restored to Premier Division status at the first attempt by
winning the First Division Championship in 2000/2001 Season and ended in
style by beating the Premier Division Champions Longside in two cup Finals
to win the Camstruction Trophy (McLeman Cup) and the Jimmy Gibb Trophy.
In 1998 Culter’s
President Doug Jamieson was instrumental in obtaining rich rewards from
the Scottish Sports Council Lottery Fund (£31,700) and from the Football
Trust (£15,000) towards the redevelopment of Crombie Park with the
remainder being raised by
Culter FC. The two-fronted target was achieved by widening the existing
playing surface and building a new all grass training facility. The
facility is used for the Club’s own training purposes and is let out to
benefit other local clubs in Culter.
